About TrustMyCourse

TrustMyCourse is a directory of online courses. Every course has a profile recording what it is, who sells it, what it costs and where that information came from. A small number of those courses have additionally been checked by us against a published standard, and those say so.

The directory is the larger part. Most courses listed here have not been reviewed, and their profiles say that plainly rather than leaving it to be inferred. A listing is not a recommendation and never has been.

What Verified means

Verified means we accessed the course, or evidence from people who bought it, and confirmed four things: that the course is real, that the offer broadly matches what is delivered, that the offer is not materially misleading, and that there is no material reason to withhold verification. The full standard is published, including the checks each review makes.

It does not mean the course is good, that it suits you, or that you will get a particular result from it. We publish no ratings, no scores and no rankings of teaching quality. The limits of a verification are published alongside the standard, and they are as important as the checks themselves.

A verification is dated and has a re-check date. When that date passes the status stops being current on its own, and the badge on the creator’s own site changes with it, because the badge is served from here rather than handed over as a file.

Who carries out reviews

Reviews are carried out by TrustMyCourse, not by the course creator and not by anyone paid by them. A creator can ask for a review, and TrustMyCourse can also start one on its own where a course is public or free to enrol in. Both routes are held to the same standard and produce the same result, and every profile states which method was used.

Independence

Founding reviews are currently carried out free of charge. Where a fee applies in future it will pay for the work of reviewing a course and never for the outcome. A course that does not meet the standard is not verified, and no payment changes that. We do not accept payment to reach a particular conclusion, and there is no arrangement under which one could be bought.

Featured placement is advertising. It is sold separately, labelled wherever it appears, and available only to courses that already hold Verified status. Buying it cannot make a course verified, cannot keep a verification alive, and has no bearing on how a review is decided. Outbound links to sellers are qualified according to the commercial relationship behind the listing.

How the directory is built

Ordinary listings are researched from what providers publish about their own courses: the official course page, the provider’s own catalogue, and similar primary sources. Every record states where its information came from and the date it was checked. Where something could not be established, such as a price a provider does not publish, the profile says it was not confirmed rather than guessing.

Summaries are written by TrustMyCourse rather than copied from sales pages. A profile for an unreviewed course describes what the provider publishes; it does not claim anyone inspected the course.

Who runs it

TrustMyCourse is independently operated by Tadeáš Plachý. Reviews are carried out by the operator rather than by a panel, and the service has no commercial relationship with the creators of the courses it lists beyond the arrangements described above.
